Drop off foreign coins at any Commonwealth Bank
An exciting initiative launched by the Commonwealth Bank and UNICEF is encouraging Aussie travellers to make their spare foreign currency count for children in need around the world.
The Commonwealth Bank has recently launched its new foreign exchange envelope which promotes Commonwealth Bank’s support of UNICEF projects through the Coins for Kids program.
All foreign exchange purchased in branch will be placed in these envelopes which encourages customers to return foreign coins to Commonwealth Bank branches, supporting UNICEF’s work for children in developing countries.
Did you know that donations of:
- 15 cents can immunise a child against polio, a disease that is on the verge of eradication
- $6 can buy 500 water purification tablets, with each tablet treating 4-5 litres of water.
- $20 provides 4 long-lasting insecticide mosquito nets, protecting families from malaria that claims an African child every 30 seconds.
“Many people have foreign coins and notes leftover after travelling. While these coins may seem useless, with UNICEF this small change can have a big impact for children,” said Norman Gillespie, UNICEF Australia CEO.
“Coins for Kids is a great way for people to not only get rid of their foreign currency but do so knowing they are making a real difference for children.”
Commonwealth Bank has been a long term supporter of UNICEF’s work with children.
If you have foreign coins that you no longer use and would like to help children living in extreme poverty, please drop them off at any Commonwealth Bank branch.
Any amount can make a lifetime of difference.
