Pakistan Crisis Appeal

UNICEF IS DEEPLY CONCERNED FOR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO REMAIN DISPLACED.

Nearly one and a half million people remain in camps in Pakistan after fleeing fighting in the northwest region in early May. Although over 800,000 people have returned home, UNICEF is deeply concerned for those children and their families who remain displaced.

UNICEF is working to provide support to ensure that many more families are able to return safely. The situation in the region remains volatile. Renewed fighting threatens many newly displaced people not yet receiving assistance, increasing the crisis in overcrowded host communities. Four new camps have been established in the region to focus relief efforts to those areas in most need.

UNICEF’s RESPONSE

UNICEF is providing children and their families with safe water and sanitation, food, health support, education and child protection. To date, UNICEF has provided 461,000 children and their families with access to safe drinking water, as well as ensured nearly 82,000 people have received comprehensive health care services.

More than 190 schools have been reopened in the region and vital restoration work is in progress on another 498 schools.

UNICEF is globally appealing for US$41.4 million (AUD$51.9 million) to provide urgent assistance to women and children.

Your donation will help UNICEF to continue to provide lifesaving emergency relief to women and children affected by fighting and living in camps in Pakistan.
