UNICEF MAKING A DIFFERENCE

TIPS FOR MAKING YOUR WILL

WHY LEAVE A LEGACY TO UNICEF?

A legacy / bequest is the most important gift you can give. By remembering UNICEF in your Will, you are ensuring generations of young lives will be improved. Legacies provide UNICEF with vital funds to be used to build better lives for children. We can plan ahead, continue with our long-term development programs and direct funds to where the need is greatest at the time.

UNICEF is the only global organisation working specifically for children and children’s rights. Our 60 years of experience have helped us to become a leader in delivering healthcare, education and protection to vulnerable children.

UNICEF relies on voluntary donations. We are a non-funded, non-government organisation established by the United Nations. As a part of the UN, we are uniquely placed to influence government policies around the world, and for every dollar donated, UNICEF leverages the equivalent of $10 through governments also investing human and financial resources into our programs.

Our UN position also means we are able to work across more countries and access more remote or dangerous areas than other organisations.

If you share UNICEF’s vision for a world where every child is vaccinated, educated and protected from harm, please consider investing in our work by remembering UNICEF in your Will.

HOW DO I DO IT?

Please consider leaving a bequest to UNICEF Australia. Please call our Bequests Officer on (02) 9261 2811 or e-mail unicef@unicef.org.au for a copy of our brochure. Alternatively, please click on the link at the right to see some suggested wording for your solicitor.

"I decided to remember UNICEF in my Will because it is the last thing I can do to support its work.  I have also asked my family to ask for donations to UNICEF, rather than flowers, at my funeral.

Before the measles vaccination was developed my first daughter died at the age of three from broncho-pneumonia as a complication of measles, so I am especially conscious of the threat that this disease poses to millions of children around the world.

I am passionate about the need to immunise children against what are now preventable diseases and I made my first donation to UNICEF in response to an Immunisation Appeal – partly in memory of the daughter I had lost and partly in gratitude for the survival of my other children.

I feel such sorrow for mothers who lose their children and by supporting UNICEF I can help to save many young lives.”
