UNICEF'S Impact
A $10 bed net can be all that’s needed to prevent a child dying from malaria.
UNICEF is the world's largest distributor of Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Nets. In 2009, we distributed close to 43 million of them for 49 countries.
UNICEF and its partners are determined to provide a mosquito net for every child who needs one by the end of 2010.
We are already seeing a decline in malaria-related deaths as a result of Long-Lasting Insecticide-Treated Nets.
The impact of the Roll Back Malaria partnership will see an estimated 4.2 million lives saved by 2015 in the 20 African countries where malaria is most prevalent.
With UNICEF's assistance, more people are accessing prevention and treatment services for malaria, sparking hope that the number of children who become sick and die from malaria will continue to decline. However, challenges remain to reduce the burden of the disease which costs Africa’s economies alone USD12 billion per year.
Malaria is an easily preventable disease. If we are going to provide a mosquito net for every child who needs one, we need your help today.
A MOSQUITO NET CAN BE ALL IT TAKES:
- $140 can provide 14 nets
- $280 can provide 28 nets
- $500 can provide 50 nets
