CRC@20
On 20 November 2009, the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
The CRC has transformed the status of children globally through helping to decrease child mortality rates, raising awareness and better protection for children in conflict, strengthening the drive for universal education, and asserting legislative action to combat exploitation of children.
The 20th anniversary of the CRC provides a unique opportunity to celebrate progress achieved and challenge governments to deepen their commitment to children. UNICEF has therefore launched a global campaign called “CRC@20” to commemorate the anniversary.
The CRC@20 campaign will involve a range of global initiatives and activities including:
- A global dedicated website;
- Celebrity voiced video messages;
- A dedicated 30th edition of UNICEF’s flagship report, The State of the World’s Children (SWOC), on child rights (to be released on November 20)
CRC@20 IN aUSTRALIA
UNICEF Australia will work to support and promote the global CRC@20 campaign in Australia through media and advocacy activities to raise public awareness regarding children’s rights and stimulate national dialogue for policy change for children.

CRC@20 Generation
The participation of children and youth is a key tenet of the CRC. UNICEF Australia has created a dedicated Facebook page specifically for young people – the first the generation to grow up under the CRC. Fans will be encouraged to spread the word by actively changing their Facebook 'status' on 20 November . Click here to become a fan of CRC@20 Generation.
