Gaza Crisis
Since 7 October 2023, over 13,600 children have been killed and thousands more injured. Without immediate lifesaving support, which is desperately close across the border, more children will die as Gaza edges on the brink of famine.
Children in Gaza are starving. Deprived of essential food, clean water and health care, they are wasting away, and this is on top of being exposed to deeply distressing events and trauma marked by widespread destruction, relentless attacks and displacement.
Now is not the time to look away. Children caught in this man-made catastrophe need us more than ever.
Millions of children around the world face devastating losses and uncertain futures caused by natural disasters, public health crises and ongoing conflicts.
From Haiti to Sudan and Ukraine to Myanmar, humanitarian emergencies are unfolding around the world. Children are losing their homes, schools and loved ones. A lack of access to food, water and healthcare is causing immense crises. And although parents and caregivers are doing all they can to keep their children safe, devastatingly many children are vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.

We can’t stop emergencies from happening, but we can ensure that more children survive. That means being on the ground, delivering lifesaving support during emergencies and being there long after a crisis to help restore vital programs to ensure every child is healthy, educated and safe from harm.
UNICEF is working alongside our partners to provide urgent assistance to children and families caught in emergencies.
Every year, UNICEF responds to hundreds of emergencies, delivering lifesaving support, safeguarding children’s rights and protecting them from harm. From emergency relief to long-term development solutions, UNICEF is 100 per cent donor funded.
How will my donation help children?
When you donate to support UNICEF’s emergency work, you can help us reach the world’s most vulnerable children and their communities in places like Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Haiti and Myanmar.
- $84 could help provide 16,800 water purification tablets, each able to create up to five litres of clean drinking water.
- $133 could help provide 253 sachets of Plumpy’Nut®, a therapeutic peanut paste, to help save the lives of two children.
- $311 could help provide a School-in-a-Box kit so 40 children can continue their education.
- 82¢last year, 82 cents of every dollar donated went to our emergency response work in the field and helped us to be there for children before, during and after emergencies around the world.
- 18¢last year, 18 cents in every dollar were invested in raising public awareness; fundraising to grow our impact for children and in essential accountability and administration work.
