Make an Impact

Today, there are more children in need of humanitarian assistance than at any other time since the Second World War.

Your generous gifts help our team respond immediately to emergencies and continue helping children survive and thrive long after an emergency has left the headlines.

When war breaks out, or disaster strikes, the chaos and insecurity that follows leaves children in significant danger. During emergencies, children often lose their home, school, and loved ones. It becomes difficult to access food, clean water and health care, and many children are left vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.

With your ongoing generosity, UNICEF works around the clock to be there for children before, during, and after emergencies. Whether it’s the ongoing conflict in Gaza or Ukraine, the devastating floods in Afghanistan, or the landslide in Papua New Guinea. Our teams are on the ground, delivering lifesaving supplies to children and families within 48 hours.

After emergencies fade from the headlines, we continue to be there for every child, rebuilding lives and communities by supporting long-term development programs and advocating for children and young people.

But we can’t do this alone. We urgently need your help today so that we can continue to reach every child, no matter what.

Children are still recovering after catastrophic floods displaced thousands of families in northern Afghanistan in May.

Like many children in northern Afghanistan, eight-year-old Mohammad was severely affected by the deadly flash floods that inundated parts of northern Afghanistan in May. The disaster swept away Mohammad's house, all his family's food, and the lives of many of his friends and neighbours. Across the region, about 350 people were killed, including dozens of children, and more than 7,800 homes were damaged, leaving over 5,000 families displaced.

"The flood swept away my father and younger brother and I thought I would never see them again. I am really happy that they survived the flood with the help of our neighbours. But the flood took our whole home and everything we had to eat, our rice, beans and bread."

Thanks to the support of generous people like you, UNICEF remains on the ground, helping children like Mohammad access lifesaving supplies including safe drinking water, hygiene kits, and child-friendly spaces for children to play, learn, and receive psychosocial support to recover from trauma. But months later, the recovery from the sheer scale of the devastation is still ongoing.

Your ongoing generosity will help UNICEF continue to help children survive and thrive, no matter where, no matter what.
