At least 80 children have been killed in the past two weeks.
With the situation in Syria rapidly evolving, UNICEF calls for a sustained peace, as children in Syria have suffered enough.
Millions of children and families are facing extreme deprivation. More than a decade of war has caused massive damage to critical infrastructure, mass displacement, and severely limited access to essential services, including safe water, sanitation, health and nutrition, protection, and education.
UNICEF remains steadfast in its commitment to remain on the ground, working alongside our partners to deliver lifesaving assistance to children and their families. They deserve a future of peace, dignity, and opportunity.
Children in Syria are enduring violence, multiple displacements and the impact of unprecedented economic crisis as we enter the 14th year of civil war.
After more than a decade of conflict, children are struggling to cope with ongoing displacements, the impact of economic crisis, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and a dramatic increase in malnutrition.
More than 90 per cent of Syrians now live below the poverty line, forcing many children to leave school to help support their families. Sadly, one in three schools are no longer being used for education, adding to Syria’s education crisis.
Violence persists in northwest Syria, threatening the lives of children and families. Millions are displaced, seeking refuge in public facilities, schools, mosques, unfinished buildings, and shops.
But there is hope. During the first half of 2024, UNICEF reached 4.6 million people across Syria, including 2.7 million children ,with essential services and supplies. With your support, UNICEF can continue to deliver lifesaving assistance to families in need, so children can start looking towards the future.

For over a decade, a generation of children have grown up knowing nothing but war.
Escalation in hostilities have displaced tens of thousands
On 4 December 2024, families fled the escalating violence in northern and northwestern Syria, where at least 35 children have been reportedly killed since 27 November 2024. More than 200,000 people, mainly women and children, have been displaced and are experiencing extreme distress and fear. Families were unable to bring any essential belongings and were displaced with only the clothes on their backs.
Alongside our partners, UNICEF is delivering lifesaving support to children and families, including, health and nutrition services, water, sanitation and hygiene, education, and child protection.
