The Collective Match

Help us build a $100K Collective Match for children

As the situation for children worsens across regions impacted by conflict, the need to move support faster and further has never been greater.

Across the Middle East, renewed violence is driving families from their homes and stretching essential services to the brink. In Gaza, Iran and Lebanon, families are fleeing bombardment, while years of war in Sudan and Ukraine continue to devastate children's lives.

This is why, as we approach the end of this financial year, we're inviting a small group of our most committed supporters to come together and play a leading role in forming the Collective Match – a way to move more support to children, faster, at a moment when every second counts.

This year, be the reason every gift goes further.

What is a Collective Match?

A Collective Match brings together a small group of UNICEF’s supporters to create a shared fund that then matches gifts from the wider community, dollar for dollar, during a campaign in the lead up to the end of financial year.

Your contribution joins this fund. During June, our broader community of supporters will have the chance to have their gifts matched, dollar for dollar, from the Collective Match fund either until 30 June, or until the pool is exhausted.

Matching a gift creates a powerful incentive, accelerating donations during the campaign period and effectively doubling another donor's impact for children – and yours. Together, you're helping twice as much support reach children, faster.

Why the Collective Match matters now

This is the reality for children around the world right now:

2,200+

More than 2,200 children have been reported killed since the escalation of violence in the Middle East.

390,000

Over 390,000 children have been displaced following the escalation of violence in Lebanon – the equivalent of more than 19,000 children every day.

1.6 million

Years of conflict have left more than 1.6 million children without access to clean water in Ukraine.

These figures reflect the scale of need today. Doubling donations through a Collective Match fund allows UNICEF to mobilise greater support, at a time when sustained, large-scale action is required.

Last year, our matched gift lifted our tax appeal conversion rate by 119% over 26-27 June – more than doubling the number of people who gave. This is the impact your gift could have this year.

Frequently asked questions about the Collective Match?

When you contribute to the Collective Match, your gift becomes part of a shared fund created by fellow UNICEF supporters. That shared fund is then used to match other gifts, dollar for dollar, during a campaign period.

For you, it’s a one-off contribution that will accelerate impact for children and UNICEF manages everything. For people giving later, it’s a powerful reason to act – they know their gift will go twice as far.

Last year, our matched gift lifted our tax appeal conversion rate by 119% over 26-27 June – more than doubling the number of people who gave. This is the impact your gift could have this year.

Contributions to the Collective Match begin at $1,000, with each gift becoming part of a shared match fund built by fellow UNICEF supporters.

Together, we're working toward a $100,000 fund – one that inspires greater giving from the wider community and doubles the impact for children. The larger the contributions we receive, the sooner UNICEF can take a compelling match to the world.

Yes and we'd love to honour it. If you'd like your generosity acknowledged, simply reach out to us and we'll include your name in the recognition section of the matched giving campaign page at launch.

As a valued contributor to the Collective Match, you'll also receive a personalised impact report, an exclusive recognition certificate, and invitations to exclusive events for our most committed supporters.

The campaign runs until the total value of the Collective Match fund is reached (targeting $100,000). This cap applies to the shared fund overall, not to individual contributions to the matched giving campaign.

If the full Collective Match fund isn’t reached during the campaign period, all gifts made are still used to support UNICEF’s lifesaving work for children in crisis, ensuring the support pledged is still directed to children who need it most.

In the new financial year, you will receive an update confirming the Collective Match period has ended, outlining how your contribution was applied and the impact it helped make possible for children.

Yes. All gifts made to the Collective Match are tax deductible. Your will receive a tax receipt in line with UNICEF Australia’s standard receipting process.
