Working towards eradicating polio in Pakistan
A young boy receives a polio vaccine from a frontline worker to protect him from a viral disease that causes permanent paralysis. With only 2 small drops of the vaccine, this cost-effective vaccination protects young children who are the most susceptible to the disease in areas such as Faisalabad, Pakistan.
Due to the severity of COVID-19, polio vaccination activities were forced to be suspended for 4 months, leaving even more children at a high risk of contracting this otherwise preventable disease. UNICEF strives to protect children from harmful diseases under any circumstances. Under the ‘Five-day Door to Door Campaign’, UNICEF is determined to protect the most vulnerable children with the goal of vaccinating 800,000 children in Pakistan alone.
This Inspired Gift helps UNICEF to fight this deadly disease in the remaining two countries in the world, making sure that no child will have to unfairly suffer from the impacts of polio.
