UNICEF distributes learning materials to displaced children in
Ehsan is seven and has just received his new school bag at a UNICEF learning centre in a makeshift settlement near Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The learning centre provides a place where Ehsan and his friends can gather safely to learn and play.
Ehsan will put the educational materials he has received in his new backpack, which he will use at the learning centre where he studies English, Burmese, mathematics, science and art.
The Balukhali settlement is home to thousands of Rohingya refugees who have fled to neighbouring Bangladesh following a surge of violence in their home Rakhine state, Myanmar. Children make up around 60% of all new arrivals.
