Three-year-old Imi receives the polio vaccine as part of the UNICEF-Supported Immunisation campaign in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The campaign aims to protect over three million children from polio in the provinces of Kinshasa, Mai-Ndombe and Tshopo.

Although progress has been made in recent years, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has one of the world's highest rates of child mortality. With only 35 per cent of children aged 12-23 months fully vaccinated in the country,
Vaccinations are crucial for the health and wellbeing of all children and their families. They protect children from preventable diseases that could result in serious illness or mortality.
