After leading UNICEF Australia since 2016, CEO Tony Stuart has announced that he will retire in late March 2027.
Over that time, Tony has led the organisation through the Black Summer bushfires, the COVID-19 pandemic and a series of major humanitarian emergencies. Through each of them, the focus stayed on making sure Australians could keep supporting children in Australia, our region and around the world.
UNICEF Australia goes into this transition in a strong position, with an outstanding team, a strong leadership group, an engaged Board and a clear strategy for the years ahead.
Anna Bligh, Chair of UNICEF Australia, said: "Tony has made an important and lasting contribution to UNICEF Australia. He has guided us through some extraordinarily difficult periods and helped ensure Australians can continue to play an important role in improving the lives of children around the world."
Tony Stuart said: "It has been a privilege to lead UNICEF Australia and to work alongside such committed colleagues, supporters and partners. I leave knowing that it is in very capable hands."
Tony will remain in the role until his retirement in March 2027 to support a smooth transition, and the Board will shortly begin the process to appoint his successor.
