Director of People & Strategy and Chief of Staff, Kara Collins

Kara Collins is UNICEF Australia's Director of People & Strategy and Chief of Staff, leading the organisation's people, governance and strategy functions. Working closely with the CEO and executive team, she helps turn strategy into action, ensuring UNICEF Australia has the culture, capability and leadership needed to deliver greater impact for children. 

Kara has more than 20 years' experience as an HR and organisational leader, working across sectors including health, construction and early childhood education. A passionate advocate for access to affordable, high-quality early learning, she joined UNICEF Australia to help advance the rights and wellbeing of children. 

Throughout her career, Kara has led significant organisational change in Australia and internationally, providing leadership in strategic human resources, governance, policy development and culture. As Chief of Staff, she plays a central role in shaping and delivering UNICEF Australia's strategy, aligning long-term priorities with day-to-day execution. 

Kara is known for building innovative and sustainable strategies grounded in evidence and data. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology, worked as a clinical psychologist early in her career, and remains a registered psychologist.
