UNICEF Australia is a children’s charity with the determination and care to deliver long-lasting impact for every child, no matter what.
UNICEF operates in more than 190 countries in some of the world’s toughest places to reach the most disadvantaged children. Here at UNICEF Australia, we partner with local communities and organisations to raise children’s voices, defend their rights, and help them reach their potential at all stages of life, both in Australia and in neighbouring countries across Asia and the Pacific.
We work to be there for children before, during and after a crisis, helping ensure they are safe, supported and able to reach their full potential. From improving maternal and child health, education and nutrition, to responding to conflicts, natural disasters and other emergencies, we help children survive, recover and thrive.
We rely entirely on voluntary donations to make this work possible. Every contribution helps deliver lifesaving support, protect children's rights and create opportunities for a brighter future.

Together, we can be there #ForEveryChild
Our Vision
A better world for children and young people, no matter what.
Our vision is a better world where every child has the right to survive and thrive, learn, live in a safe and clean environment, be safe from violence, and have an equal chance of life. We want to see a better world where the rights of every child, in Australia and around the world are realised.
Our Purpose
To improve the lives of children, especially the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.
Our purpose is aligned to UNICEF’s universal desire to become an ever-more critical global partner in protecting children’s rights, in delivering results for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people, and in gathering more voices, hearts and hands to our common cause: children.

Our Strategic Plan
Over the next four years, we are determined to achieve our purpose of improving the lives of children everywhere, no matter what. We will do this through relentlessly responding to emergencies and being ambitious in our partnerships and programs to achieve positive long-term impact in the lives of children. We will seek to operate through a culture of collaboration and innovation and be the trusted partner of children and young people, so their voices are heard and amplified in Australia and around the world. Aligning for impact
We will align our efforts across Australia and the region and focus our programs in the areas where we can have the greatest impact. We will be relentless and determined in our response to emergencies, ensuring children are safe from harm, including from the worst impacts of climate change. By 2030, UNICEF aims to be the leading advocate for the rights and wellbeing of children and young people in Australia, and go-to organisation for children in global emergencies.
Unlocking new funding
We will be ambitious and farsighted in our partnerships and programs, delivering impact for children at scale. We will expand and diversify how we fund our impact for children – scaling growth in high-value partnerships, pioneering new revenue streams, and establishing sustained and reliable funding.
Activating Australia
We will mobilise Australians to create a nationwide movement of supporters who amplify our vision, connect with our brand, and act for children. We will broaden our work with schools, universities and youth groups, supporting children and young people to learn, advocate and take action, and establish innovative ways to harness the collective power of volunteers.
Alliances for good
We will convene strategic alliances and multi-dimensional partnerships to amplify our impact priorities at scale. We will grow and strengthen our role as trusted convener with government, private sector and civil society partners, and facilitate increased connectivity between our Australian and regional partners, advancing advocacy and influence to drive outcomes for children.
"Never give up, for this is just the place and time that the tide will turn."
