In October 2021, my partner Becky and I welcomed our son Albie into the world. It's hard to put the feeling of fatherhood into words, but it's safe to say we are both filled with love and amazement at the love and responsibility we feel.
The biggest thing I've learnt through all my reading and research is just how important the first few years of a child's life are. It's when little brains begin to develop and strong foundations for life-long health begin. That's what UNICEF are all about – protecting every child, no matter what.
I'm thrilled to announce that I have joined the team at UNICEF Australia as an Ambassador to build brighter futures for children everywhere.
Many children in remote Indigenous communities across Australia are growing up without adequate access to the quality education, support and health care they need to get the best start in life.
Becky and I are pledging to help change that with UNICEF Australia.
To celebrate the birth of Albie, we have committed to fund an Aboriginal-led, early childhood development program in remote Indigenous communities of the Northern Territory – reaching children with education, health care and support.
If you are able to, we'd love you to join us. Because as little as $10 makes a difference. Together, we can help to reduce inequality in Australia and improve outcomes for children in remote Aboriginal communities.
With love,
Pat, Becky & Albie
