Change For Good

A little change adds up to a lot of good for children like Mahammad

Clean water is something we often take for granted daily; yet, for children in certain parts of the world, such as Afghanistan, it can be difficult to access.

Nine-year-old Mahammad used to walk for an hour almost every day to fetch water from another village for his family. His seven siblings have all been affected by the unclean water they relied on for drinking and cooking. But with solar-panelled water taps newly installed in his village by UNICEF, life has changed for the better for Mahammad.

"Now that we have clean water in our home, I don’t have to walk far to fetch water and can spend my time studying or playing with my friends."

This small but powerful action has transformed the lives of countless children like Mahammad and their families, allowing them to focus on their education, health and childhood.

Long-term sustainable impact allows real change to happen

For over thirty years, Qantas has supported UNICEF's work through funding, advocacy, and the passionate involvement of its people. It’s partnerships like this that spark real, lasting change - just like the journey of Bismarck, whose personal story with UNICEF spans almost the same amount of time as this partnership.

After becoming a refugee at a young age, Bismarck has firsthand experienced the hardships many children around the world continue to face. His experience gives him a powerful understanding of why humanitarian support for organisations like UNICEF is not only important, but also lifesaving.
