How do you vaccinate millions of children in just four days?
When a polio outbreak in 2016 threatened children in hard-to-reach parts of Nigeria, UNICEF didn’t wait to act. We helped launch an emergency immunisation campaign to reach more than 30 million children in just four days.It all started with passionate health workers like Aisha. Vaccinators like her were critical to preventing the spread of the deadly disease. “I feel happy and proud to help my community by being part of the polio vaccination team,” she says, her polio vaccine container slung over her shoulder.
