Children in Gaza are in desperate need.

In countries like Zambia where malnutrition continues to be a major contributor to child mortality, UNICEF works closely with local rural communities on long-term projects to support health, education and development, making sure children can grow and thrive through to adolescence.

Today, we want to take you to the Kholowa village in Zambia to show you the lasting impact a gift to UNICEF in your Will can have on thousands of lives.

The Insaka Project

Here, UNICEF and partners have invested in the Insaka Community Centre, creating a hub of hope designed and built with communities in mind to meet the critical needs of children and their parents through infrastructure, social development and training.

Insaka is a Bemba word for "place to gather", and that is exactly what this hub has become for the communities it serves. At the Insaka Community Centre:

  • mothers receive valuable information about childhood nutrition, safe water, and the importance of learning through play for a child growth and development;
  • the youth have access to better education and can equip themselves with technical and digital skills, thanks to innovative technology and access to solar power; and
  • children have access to safe drinking water, so they don’t have to miss school due to illness.

The Insaka Community Centre shows what can be done when this generation invests in the next.

We understand that leaving a gift in your Will is a very personal decision, and something that requires a lot of thought and consideration. That's why we created our Gifts in Wills guide you can download below, which has all the information you’ll need.
