Would you like to have your ideas heard and be a part of an event raising youth voices on climate action around Australia?
We’re looking for young Australians who are passionate about climate action to join the conversation at the 2025 Australian Local Conference of Youth (LCOY).
This year’s LCOY will be the largest and most diverse youth consultation on climate in Australia. We want young people from all walks of life to share their ideas and have their say on climate change.
You’ll get the opportunity to contribute to the Global Youth Climate Statement, which will be shared with the Australian Government and world leaders at the COP30 climate summit in Brazil in November.
Join us to have your say and meet other like-minded young people who are as passionate about climate change as you!

LCOY 2025 consultations are now closed.
Stay tuned for the National Child and Youth Statement on Climate Change which will be ready very soon!
What is an LCOY?
Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) is a national conference for children and young people that focuses on climate change. The overall goal of LCOY is to bring together young people in countries, including Australia, to network, explore and discuss issues affecting them that are related to climate change. It aims to collate young people’s ideas and experiences into a National Children and Youth Statement, which then contributes to the Global Youth Climate Statement that is submitted to the Conference of Parties (COP) climate negotiations.
LCOYs happen worldwide under the umbrella of YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). They are organised by local youths and youth-led organisations in the respective countries, chosen by YOUNGO.
In Australia, this year's LCOY is supported by Australian Youth for International Climate Engagement (AYFICE), UN Youth Australia and UNICEF Australia.

The National Child and Youth Statement on Climate Change
During the event, discussions about various climate topics will be documented. These discussions will contribute to the National Child and Youth Statement on Climate Change, providing input into the Global Youth Climate Statement submitted to the UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP) climate negotiations. This document will also be shared with the Australian Government before the COP30 summit later this year.
