SYDNEY, Tuesday 22 September 2020:  UNICEF Australia welcomes the federal Government’s recent announcement of additional $305.6 million support that will protect access to Early Education and Care services for children in Victorian families who have been heavily affected by the pandemic.

“In particular UNICEF Australia with our commitment to a fair chance for every child welcomes the child care fee freeze for Victorian families and the relaxation of the activity test for Australian families whose activity level has been impacted by COVID-19,” said Tony Stuart, Chief Executive Officer for UNICEF Australia.

“This further builds on the Federal Government’s swift action at the outset of the pandemic and its prioritisation of young children and families through the Early Childhood Education and Care Relief Package. This was a highly effective emergency response measure, which has effectively prevented the sector from collapsing,” he said.
