Since becoming a UNICEF Australia Ambassador in 2021, Pat Cummins has been a powerful advocate for children’s rights, with a particular emphasis on education, gender equality, and emergency relief. His passion for education stems from his mother’s career as a primary school teacher, which has shaped his belief in the transformative power of learning.

Pat’s advocacy is grounded in the belief that every child deserves a fair start, mirroring the values he’s carried from the cricket pitch into classrooms and communities around the world. He frequently uses his platform to amplify UNICEF’s work, appearing in campaigns, social media content, and public appeals.

In 2023, Pat travelled to Borroloola in the Northern Territory to visit the Indi Kindi early education program, supporting Aboriginal children in remote communities. That same year, he visited Aurangabad Composite School in Lucknow, India, where he explored hands-on STEM learning and the effects of climate change on children in flood-prone regions.

Most recently, in 2024, Pat engaged with students at ATAL Tinkering Labs in Hyderabad, India, celebrating how STEM education, especially for girls, can break down barriers and spark lifelong curiosity.

"I’ve been so lucky to see the amazing programs UNICEF Australia has around the world… It’s not but amazing, and I feel really lucky to be in this position to see first-hand the work they do."
