As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread, UNICEF teams around the world and here in Australia are urgently working to keep communities safe, strengthen fragile health systems, and share critical public health messages.

Be part of the solution: what you can do

Right now, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but there are a few straightforward things you can do to help prevent the spread of the disease and its impacts on children.

  1. Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water.
  2. Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze.
  3. Practice physical distancing, and stay home unless you need to go out.
  4. Do your bit to call out bullying and stigmatisation. Don’t attach locations or ethnicity to the virus. Racial discrimination and bullying is always wrong. Let’s be kind, support each other.
  5. Stay in touch with family and friends, particularly vulnerable people, via phone or online platforms.
