World No.1 tennis player Novak Djokovic has been named a UNICEF global Goodwill Ambassador in a ceremony at UNICEF’s New York headquarters overnight.

Djokovic established the Novak Djokovic Foundation in 2007 to support early childhood education projects in Serbia. In 2011, Djokovic was named a UNICEF Serbia National Ambassador to help reach the disadvantaged and marginalised children of his home country with early childhood education programs.
His appointment as a global Goodwill Ambassador will continue this work and see him raise the profile of UNICEF programs for children worldwide.
Djokovic is currently ranked the world No.1 men’s singles tennis player by the Association of Tennis Professionals. He has won several major titles including the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open.
