Children need urgent support after devastating floods in Nepal
Severe flooding has devastated communities in Nepal's Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Tanahun District along the Nepal–Tibet border, leaving children and their families facing loss, displacement and uncertainty. Hundreds of people have been killed, and thousands more are still missing, with the full extent of the disaster still emerging. Homes, roads, bridges and critical infrastructure have been damaged, while disrupted communications and blocked access routes are making it difficult to reach some of the hardest-hit communities.
In the aftermath of a disaster, children are among the most vulnerable. They need protection, care and stability. UNICEF is on the ground, working with the Government of Nepal and partners to deliver lifesaving support to children and families affected by the floods, including emergency health, lifesaving nutrition, safe water, medical tents, and critical child protection services. How will my donation help children?
When you donate to support our emergency work, you can help us reach the world’s most vulnerable children and their communities in places like Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Haiti and Myanmar. We’re there for every child, no matter what.
- $90 could help provide 18,878 water purification tablets, each able to create up to five litres of clean drinking water.
- $127 could help provide 252 sachets of Plumpy’Nut®, a therapeutic peanut paste, to help save the lives of two children with malnutrition.
- $311 could help provide two School-in-a-Box kits so 80 children can continue their education.
- 76¢on average, 76 cents to every dollar spent for the past three years went directly to helping children in need, including long-term programs, emergency response and community education.
- 24¢on average, 16 cents to every dollar spent for the past three years went to essential fundraising costs that helped us generate more impact for children, 8 cents went to admin costs, such as keeping your personal data safe.
