How we hire
UNICEF Australia is determined to build a better world where all children and young people can thrive, and to do that, we need to build a team that is diverse in perspectives and experiences. And this begins with our hiring process.
We believe hiring is a two-way conversation and decision; we’re truly interested in getting to know you and we're curious about what's important to you. We also ensure that you have the opportunity to discover more about us through the process.
Step 1. Take the time to stand out
When you see a role that interests you, show us how it's the right for you. Prepare by exploring our website, getting to know our purpose, and familiarise yourself with any information about the role prior to submitting your application.
Step 2. Getting to know each other
For most opportunities, we start with a short conversation so we can learn a little more about each other. The more questions you have, the better. We then have an in-person interview where you will meet with the people you’ll be working with.
Step 3. Decision time
We take every hiring decision seriously. We continuously seek feedback along the way, from you, all those you meet, and from your referees. If you don’t progress after a final interview, you will always hear back from us and you can seek feedback.
Step 4. The final steps
If we both decide this is a great match, we will need you to complete one final step, as working in a child-focused organisation comes with many important checks to properly safeguard children, but we will tell you more about that at the right time.
Volunteering is a meaningful way to make a difference to the world's children, that's why we're building a network of volunteers who feel they are contributing, learning and part of our shared purpose.
We're currently working towards a dedicated pathway to volunteering with UNICEF Australia. Click below to register your interest in our Job Opportunities section.
Our Young Ambassador program gives young people aged 15-24 the opportunity to speak up for children’s rights and for what matters most to Australia's young people.
Recruited from across Australia, our Young Ambassadors are trained in leadership, government advocacy, media and communications, and engage with children and young people to male meaningful change.
