Children and young people are bearing the brunt of a growing crisis. Help UNICEF to scale up life-saving emergency support.
A Ukrainian child has become a refugee almost every single second since the start of the invasion on February 24. This refugee crisis is unprecedented in terms of speed and scale since the Second World War, and it is showing no signs of slowing down.
UNICEF is urgently ramping up efforts to deliver immediate support to hundreds of thousands of children and families whose lives hang in the balance. We desperately need your support.
WHAT IS HAPPENING IN UKRAINE?
More than 4.3 million children have already fled the country, and more than 1.8 million children have become refugees.
UNICEF is trucking safe water to conflict-affected areas and prepositioning health, hygiene, and emergency education supplies as close as possible to families near the contact line.
UNICEF has been in Ukraine for 25 years supporting children on both sides of the contact line.
Deliver life-saving supplies to children, young people, and families in Ukraine. Your investment is essential in helping us to scale our emergency response. Please give generously today.
Since the beginning of the conflict, over 750 educational institutions on both sides of the contact line have been damaged by the hostilities and many more have suffered disruption to education.
To date, UNICEF continues to have a team on the ground in Ukraine and is sending in essential supplies including 22 trucks with 168 tons of supplies, including midwifery kits, surgical kits, obstetric kits, oxygen concentrators, cold boxes, as well as blankets and winter clothes, water, sanitation and hygiene kits, dignity kits; early childhood education kits and adolescent Kits.
Meanwhile, mobile child protection teams are being expanded from 9 to 47 to scale-up protection and psychosocial services for children across Ukraine. Escalating conflict is posing a constant threat to children and young people’s safety and right to a future, causing trauma and emotional distress. UNICEF also supports repairs to damaged schools and vital water and sanitation facilities.
Now, more than ever, the children of Ukraine desperately need peace.
