We work cooperatively with decision makers at all levels of government to influence positive change and improve outcomes for children and young people across Australia.
We take insights from our work to advocate for policy settings that improve the lives of children and young people. We also help to shape budget and investment decisions so that more resources are available for children. Through thought leadership and shaping public debate on children’s issues, we collaborate with partners and the sector to bring about positive change at scale.
We also advocate for the rights of children and young people by amplifying their voices. Our Young Ambassadors program gives young people a platform and the opportunity to speak up about what matters most to them.
We have a vision where every child is healthy, educated, protected, respected and involved. We’re working towards making impactful change in three priority areas, here in Australia and overseas.
Policy & Advocacy
Advocating with governments to address inequality and strengthen policies for children in Australia.
Creating Knowledge, Data & Evidence
Driving change for children and young people at a policy level.
Voice for Children
Elevating the voices of young people and enabling them to be drivers of change
Policy Submissions
Here at UNICEF Australia, we work with all levels of Government to protect and promote the exercise and experience of children’s rights. UNICEF Australia has made submissions to Parliamentary Committees and appeared before them on issues relating to child rights issues in Australia.
UNICEF Australia’s Research and Evidence
Worldwide, UNICEF leads the way in creating evidence-based research which helps to drive change for children and young people at a policy level. From Family-Friendly Workplaces to Bushfire Recovery and so much more, explore UNICEF Australia’s extensive research.
Australian Parliamentary Association for UNICEF
The Parliamentary Association for UNICEF is comprised of Federal Members of Parliament and Senators who are committed to UNICEF’s mandate and advocate for the rights of children within Parliament and in their respective electorates.
Measuring the wellbeing of Australia’s kids
The Australian Children’s Wellbeing Index by UNICEF Australia and ARACY helps us to understand the lives of children and young people. It tells us what we need to do now and into the future to make sure every child can reach their full potential.
