Your philanthropy, their future: working together for lasting change.

We believe in the power of shared values. Our philanthropy team meets donors where they are on their philanthropic journey, to build partnerships that drive catalytic change. Whether it’s treating malnutrition, empowering the next generation of girls, responding swiftly to emergencies, or helping to tackle the climate crisis, philanthropy plays a vital role in creating lasting change.

Why UNICEF?

Partner with us on your philanthropy journey

In a world full of uncertainty and unpredictability, investing in real lasting impact has never been more important.

At UNICEF Australia, that impact comes from working within existing systems – alongside grassroots partners, communities, and all levels of government – to ensure the programs you invest in are set up to be sustainable.

We seek guidance from local communities and together we co-design programs that respond to their needs. Most of our implementing partners are local or national non-government organisations. By working with local partners and collaborating with policy makers, we build capacity and scale up programs to the point that they are sustainable – to the point where we are no longer needed.

This approach means we can tackle the challenges with solutions that reach the greatest number of children. As a result, your contribution goes even further, creating real change for children today, while building a brighter future for tomorrow.

We look forward to partnering with you on your philanthropic journey.

Investing in local leadership

Philanthropic support enables us to drive long-term, sustainable change for children around the world. By partnering with local communities, governments, and the private sector, we can address inequality at its root and scale up successful community-led programs.

Working alongside local communities and governments is the only way to create systematic change and ensure the sustainability of the UNICEF programs you support.

As part of the United Nations, UNICEF is uniquely positioned to bring together international, national and local leaders to develop lasting solutions for children and avoid fragmented, short-term fixes.

Trust-based philanthropy

At UNICEF Australia, we understand that philanthropic giving is both complex and deeply meaningful. It’s a purposeful and powerful act, one that offers a unique opportunity to create lasting, positive change in society.

At a time of unprecedented cuts to international aid, multiyear, flexible, and unearmarked resources can best support the world’s most vulnerable children. This kind of trust-based philanthropy unlocks greater impact because it puts decisions in the hands of local communities so funds can be used for children wherever and whenever the need is greatest.

It’s a powerful strategy that enables long-term planning, not just short-term interventions and it supports pilot-to-scale models, where local innovation becomes national policy.

Helping your donation work harder

As an accredited partner of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), every donation you make to UNICEF Australia’s programs could be combined with funding from the Australian Government to reach more people.

100 per cent donor funded

We receive no funding from the United Nations. We rely entirely on voluntary contributions from governments, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), foundations, corporations and private individuals – and we are committed to making every dollar go further to save and improve children’s lives.

Myths about UNICEF

There are plenty of myths and misconceptions about UNICEF and how we work around the world – from how your donations are used to where we get our funding from and who we partner with. We’re busting those myths with facts, transparency, and real examples of UNICEF’s work, so you can see exactly how your support helps create a brighter future for every child.

Busting myths about UNICEF

"As an entirely volunteer funded organisation, it’s incredibly important for myself and my team to always seek to understand more about our partners and prospective partners and meet them where they are on their philanthropic journey."
